Training
Training Clients will receive:
- Home visit initial consultation (depending on location).
- Weekly progress reports through e-mails and website posting.
- Certificate of graduation upon conclusion of training period.
- Report card with post-training follow-up guidelines written for each individual horse.
- Free telephone consultation throughout and after training period.
- Discounted riding lessons.
Training Assessments
If you are trying to train your horse yourself and you are running into behavior problems or roadblocks, or are preparing to sell your horse, or are wondering what discipline might best suit your horse or pony, I can travel to your barn to give you a two to three hour assessment session. During this session, I will examine your horse's conformation, movement, and will ride(if started or trained under saddle) or work with your horse and provide you with a written assessment within 24 hours of working with your horse.
Training at your facility
If you would like training for your horse or pony, but already have a barn, I can travel to your barn for one-hour training sessions. Prices vary depending on distance. I specialize in behavioral problems, horse/rider relationship issues, overcoming fear issues in horses and people, and hunt-seat/jump and dressage training.
Common problems I see are:
- horse aggression towards humans and other horses
- lack of respect for humans
- undesirable behaviors under saddle (rearing, balking, bucking, bolting, spooking, refusing to stop/move forward)
- Inability to pay attention to rider/handler
- Fear issues
- Horse not able to be bathed, have feet picked up, load into trailer, be tied or cross-tied
- lack of effective communication between horse and rider
Starting a horse/pony under saddle
The very best investment you can make into your young horse is to give it the gift of patient, professional, non-violent training. People who allow me to work with their weanlings, yearlings, and two-year-olds are amazed when it comes time for them to start their horse under saddle. Advanced ground training can be done with horses of almost any age, so that almost all of the difficult training has been done before you mount for the first time.
Depending on the breed of horse, I will not start any horse under saddle until it is at least two and one half to three years old. Medical research has proven that very young horses are not physically or emotionally prepared to have a rider on their back. Starting a horse too young will cause developmental damage to the bones and joints of the horse.

- One-hour training session (horse only): $30
- One-hour training session (horse and rider): $35
